Some of these districts in Wake and Mecklenburg were NOT districts originally declared unconstitutional, or abutting the unconstitutional districts.
#NCGA redrew them anyway when they drew remedial maps in August. 1/ -
By the way, Wake & Mecklenburg are NC's most urban counties, with large numbers of Democrats.

NC State Constitution has prohibition against mid-cycle redistricting and for State Senate there is a "whole county" provision, so Plaintiffs challenged the re-drawing of those districts on those grounds.

Court's direction to Special Master was that districts NOT part of or abutting the previously unconstitutional districts should be returned to the 2011 district.
