Who'd have expected Don McGahn to be the one to save us from a constitutional crisis?

NYT: "After receiving the president’s order to fire Mr. Mueller, the White House counsel, Donald F. McGahn II, refused to ask the Justice Department to dismiss the special counsel, saying he would quit instead" It would have meant firing Rosenstein

that's interesting. What do you think the article means in that context? He gave the order for that sequence?
-
Or ordered the repeal of the regs, per Katyal's suggestion
-
LOL at the idea that Trump would be in the weeds enough to order repeal of the governing regs. Remember that the Deputy WH Counsel let him think (wrongly) that he needed cause to fire Comey. He had no idea what the governing law was.
-
right. So probably, what? He shouted "fire Mueller" and people had to explain they couldn't do exactly that?
-
I'm probing because you figure there'd be evidence of people starting to do these things somewhere.
-
I read NYT story to suggest he told McGahn to tell Rosenstein to fire Mueller and McGahn refused.

Curious, if Trump fired Rosenstein and replaced him with someone willing to fire Mueller, knowing what we know now would this theoretical person then also open themselves to an obstruction charge?

You're not going to impeach him. Work on elections.

This is the course of action that the Nunes memo is laying the groundwork for.
