What about the filibuster, requiring 60 votes in the Senate, which necessarily means some Democratic votes to get things through?https://twitter.com/JoyAnnReid/status/954387763977162752 …

This is frustrating. The GOP has not dealt in good faith in several years and very smart people continue to say both sides.

I'm *not* making a both sides argument. R have much, more more power here. If they put DACA plan with gov't funding to a vote, they easily stop shutdown. But trying to pretend Ds have no power in Senate on this vote is wrong. Not like tax bill/ACA mandate cut via reconciliation.

The current bill does not have 50 votes in the Senate. Breaking the Democratic fillibuster would not fund the government.

Or the House could do a budget and an appropriations bill in conversation with Dems. It is the ONE job the
@spkerofthehouse and his cohorts actually have. Do the damn job.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

There’s a bipartisan deal that the R leadership won’t bring up for a vote

This doesn't take into consideration that there is a bipartisan bill that has 60 votes in the Senate.

I don't understand how you can say "Republicans are blameless if the government shuts down." SAD! (I hope you have enjoyed this parody of how Twitter-discussions operate.)

This is completely hypothetical so why even mention it? How about the GOP brings a bill to the floor and then we talk about procedure

Their ability to filibuster is not a filibuster. If they block McConnell’s 50 yes votes, you can argue that the Dems shut it down.
