While he is a Republican and a Cobservative, Justice Kennedy cares too much for the Country, the Constitution and his legacy to retire while Trump is President . He knows his signature opinions on Equal Protection would be overturned.

He’s a never trumper. He desperately is hoping for impeachment right after the midterms so Pence can appoint his replacement. But he’d rather retire under a democrat than let Donald fill his seat. -
Trump and Pence would name the same ex act replacement. Kennedy obvisouly knows this.
