The NYT push notification I just got says "President Trump not in violation of the Emoluments Clause, a judge ruled, dismissing a suit accusing him of profiting through his office." But that's not right, is it? Didn't say he's not violating

It's about standing and political questions, not a ruling on the merits

The first write through in the
@nytimes on the Emoluments story is not much better than the inaccurate push notificationhttps://www.nytimes.com/2017/12/21/us/politics/trump-suit-constitution-business.html …Show this thread - End of conversation

WTF I’m not seeing his logic. Seems to be clear to me. It’s a violation

Plaintiffs in a case have to show that they have standing, that is, that they have a tangible interest in the case and/or stand to suffer personal injury. The principles are complicated and counterintuitive to a layman. The plaintiffs can appeal.

If being a citizen of the USA is not enough “standing” in a case accusing the president of the USA of violating the constitution, what does amount to enough “standing”?!?!?!

That's not right. It was dismissed for lack of standing.

That judge needs to be under a microscope... sounds about as competent as one of Trump's nominees...
