Presumably most federal district appointees have been judges in state courts. Experience being a judge is key for demonstrating capacity to rule on the facts and the law, manage a trial fairly & efficiently, and write sound, well-grounded opinions. That's the job description.

Has he ever had to explain to a client why a court ruled against him? Ever told a client no? Doesn’t necessarily need trial experience but needs experience of some sort
