Totally agree. If Moore drops out, I support Alabama courts finding a way to get a replacement on the ballot, if it can be done without disenfranchising military voters: http://electionlawblog.org/?p=95923 https://twitter.com/lordsutch/status/929493056776261632 …

No. But we can have rules that allow party nominees to be replaced if they drop out, for example. https://twitter.com/rickhasen/status/929489884342992896 …

That is, I think Republicans just as much as Democrats should be able to pull a Torricelli if doing so would give voters a meaningful choice.

You don't change the law when the results go against you. Elections are not permanent. There will be another one. Remember that

The GOP nominated this guy. I'm sure they (like most companies & cults) vetted their own candidates, no? Re-do because they got caught?

Wait, Rick. Are you saying you support court overriding the law as written? I know it's been done before, but please elaborate if you will.

There are already two write-ins, could courts bypass signature requirements and put them on the ballot?

send military/overseas voters a new ballot, that will supersede old one if cast by deadline, but with a note that previously cast ballots for Moore OR for GOP straight ticket count for replacement if new ballot not voted.

By what legal right do political parties get to do this for *their* nominee?

Aw, c'mon y'all. This election is legit and is tee'd up to take place. There are two qualified candidates on the ballot and the election must go forward. The rest is all political posturing.
