I've asked filibusters for their end game, and it's always, "Garland" or someone like him. But that's not happening.

It seems possible to me that AMK is less likely to retire under Trump if the filibuster is gone.

Making a stand isn't always about winning. Sometimes it's just about standing up for what's right.

This forces McConnell to actually change the rules to steal this seat. Long-term legitimacy implicated + takes his 1-shot weapon away.

Because McConnell was wrong. And wrong should always be challenged. Hypocrites should be called out.

You're assuming a) McConnell will actually pull the trigger and b) Three Rs won't defect and vote against nuke. Game of chicken, I guess.

Withdraw Gorsuch nomination and agree on a compromise nominee.

Because that's why it exists. At some point, you have to draw a line in the sand and say "enough's enough." Can't always play the long game.

Until it happens, it's just a threat.

Reelection... If you'll lose the filibuster whenever it's used anyway, may as well satisfy voters.

Some might view the end of the filibuster as an end in itself.
