So this is the question: can you separate race and party when A-A voters are 90+% for Dems and Dem platform supports what they want?https://twitter.com/Joseph_La_Rue/status/795303207828213760 …
so how would you characterize, for example, NC voting law: anti African American or anti Democrat?

@rickhasen@ElectProject This is not to say that there are not sometimes racist motivations. I just think most are NOT so motivated.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Similarly, if African-Americans tended to vote GOP, I doubt Dems would fight so hard to get them to the polls.

sort of like how Maryland gerrymander prioritizes white democrats over black majority districts?

IMO, most "questionable" election laws designed to favor one Party over others. Race is not generally motivation

@rickhasen@ElectProject BTW, I did not answer your question about NC law b/c I have not read the legislative history & cannot form opinion

@Joseph_La_RueYes. Cnsrv/Lib is distrib. is normal!? USA POC party ID is due to racism, pure&simple.

does that matter? election laws shouldn't specifically favor one political party over another.

I know it's not the current legal standard but it seems odd to allow partisan distortions like that.
