Sounds like GOPers who got Adelson $ might get a call soon from Shelly asking them to support Obama Syria resolution:http://www.nationaljournal.com/national-security/sheldon-adelson-to-president-obama-i-would-be-willing-to-help-on-syria-20130910 …

So $100M+ doesn't buy clout? Adelson offers to help whip GOP Syria votes, but adds "I don't have that kind of clout."http://www.nationaljournal.com/national-security/sheldon-adelson-to-president-obama-i-would-be-willing-to-help-on-syria-20130910 …

.@kenvogel Big donors/spenders much more likely to have influence over non-salient issues like casino tax breaks, than top foreign policy

.@rickhasen the way to influence business regulation is lobbying, not big campaign spending, which yields a much lower return on investment

.@kenvogel the campaign spending eases the lobbying. I round up the empirical evidence here: http://www.stanfordlawreview.org/print/article/lobbying-rent-seeking-and-constitution …

.@rickhasen $ to parties/candidates compliments lobbying. Big outside spending? Much less so, which is why corp. players favor the former.

.@rickhasen Can't imagine Lockheed, GE, etc. going Full Adelson in 2016 or ever. Too much risk, when they get their way thru lobbying/hard $

@rickhasen yup, but - again - that's hard $ in the system. Not big outside spending.
