          My guess is, she left the party without telling anyone because she was distraught. When asked later why she left the party she probably said she wasn’t feeling well. So really no one would know from her what happened. But people said they heard about it for days after.

          To be clear, not recalling is not the same thing at all saying that it "didn't happened." Be careful of reading those as equivalent, they are vastly different. I have no recollection of many things my families reminds me of.
