Seems like a large percentage of Democrats will believe Dr. Ford’s testimony. If Judge Kavanaugh is confirmed and Dems retake the House, there will be great pressure on them to begin impeachment proceedings against Kavanaugh.

67 votes needed to impeach, same as POTUS. Even if every Senate race went Democratic, there wouldn't be enough senators as no Republican senator will vote to impeach. Better to keep him off the court in the first place, then win the Senate in November so we block GOP nominees.

There are already plenty of reasons without this accusation hanging over him to rescind the nomination--the perjury in every single appearance before Congress comes immediately to mind. And those reasons are also reasons to impeach and remove him if the Republicans install him.

I think the @HouseDemocrats @SenateDems would at the very least have an investigation before making that decision!

They would, the impeachment process really IS an investigation, culminating in the decision to impeach or not to impeach 👍

Let's hope it doesn't have to come to this. Maybe @SenSusanCollins & @lisamurkowski will actually listen to their constituents instead of their master, Mitch McConnell, & vote against him, surprising us all. Men may be underestimating them as caring women. We can only hope.

Don't underestimate the additional impact of the release of additional documents in 19 and 20 on that process.

I can see a House committee investigation, but removal takes 2/3 of the Senate, and if he gets 50 votes for confirmation, there aren’t 67 votes for removal (absent spectacularly bad new info). So I doubt a House Dem majority would bother. Better to prioritize the possible.

I don't think you're wrong, but that wouldn't be smart. Impeachment is pointless (in that they'll never get 2/3 in the Senate to make it effective w/a conviction). Also seems like a giant political gift to Trump & GOP.

House Judiciary will have more urgent things to worry about when a round of indictments of the president’s family and close advisers comes down after the elections.
