The only Dem running for Kansas SoS (=Kobach's job) is Brian McClendon, a tech engineer. This recent interview makes it clear that McClendon views Kobach's 'mass fraud' lies as preposterous, & opposes the 'proof of citizenship' law as "burdensome:" http://www.cjonline.com/special/20180714/kansas-secretary-of-state-brian-mcclendon …https://twitter.com/Taniel/status/1022862656246562816 …

Some Republicans running to replace Kris Kobach are trying to out-Kobach him. See: Dennis Taylor says the "proof of citizenship" law was insufficient. at least this county commissioner (running as a Republican) says he wants to go further than Kobach-like laws to audit the voter rolls & identify noncitizens, though:https://twitter.com/Taniel/status/1022862656246562816 …

I spoke with him by phone and have read several local articles, and I don’t read it that way either. I’ve reached out to his campaign to clarify.

In our conversation, he knew / expressed concern about the flaws of #Crosscheck, said he wouldn’t see any point to appeal of Fish v Kobach. If @Taniel’s interpretation is correct, I will need to retract my endorsement.

I'm not sure I have an interpretation beyond reacting to those 2 paragraphs, which as quoted explicitly support the proof of cit law & say it doesn't go far enough to root out fraud. I'm glad to hear of what he told you, however! What do you think he is saying in these 2 pars?

Based on what he said in an oped, I think he’s somewhat mocking the dPOC requirement bc it’s so limited. That jives with my convo with him.

This article sounds very much in line with my convo with Taylor. http://www.abilene-rc.com/news/candidate-says-proof-of-citizenship-law-not-necessary/article_323150d6-7ba1-11e8-8111-dbb11760b2cc.html …
