I'd love more varied experience on the courts. More former district judges, more former public defenders, more folks who worked in the administrative state. But if academic experience is adequate for judges whose work I respect, I'm not going to be hypocritical about it.

100 percent agree. Kagan has been among the strongest Justices, without the typical lawyer experience. I think it perfectly fine to oppose nominees based on ideology, though, which puts Barrett, Kethledge, and Kavanaugh mostly in the same camp.
