There's even a LA County Recorder tweet saying show up, we'll give you a provisional ballot, your vote will count. California doesn't try to suppress voters, they positively encourage them. The former mayor only did this after his poor performance became so manifestly obvious.

No, I'm wrong. There's multiple tweets from their account: https://twitter.com/LACountyRRCC/with_replies … (in both English and Spanish). The LA County recorder's office even corrected people giving out wrong info. They got the info out there from the start re provisional ballots & voting.

Correct. My wife and I were two of the affected. She was given a provisional ballot at 10:15 am. Called me just after to say our names weren’t on the list. I had already signed up for a mail in ballot so I was only partially affected.

I later heard an interview with the LA County Registrar on
@KPCC in the early afternoon clearing laying out the issue and planned resolution. Was relieved to hear his quick response as I had initially planned on filing a formal comment. -
I'm sorry the mistake happened, but I'm very happy with what I've seen and heard about how they've handled it so far, how they've tried to get the word out to the public and deal with it in the best possible way.

118k voters is approximately 2% to 3% of the LA county electorate, so I think it is unlikely the reason he will lose tonight. That said, I am interested to know the reason that this happened. Early reporting is implying it is a printing snafu, but that doesn't seem right.

SNAFU probably isn't the best "word" choice. FUBAR would be a better option. Just my opinion.
