I really love all of you in the press and everyone who has my email address, but I cannot spend all day, every day explaining why Trump does not have a realistic path to overturn the election. Here's my latest thinking. Please come in off the ledge.

Just a note for followers, Matthew is a real expert on the Third Circuit, where the Trump appeal will go. Add him to your feed if you want the details.

There is no chance SCOTUS will review the suit dismissed by Judge Brann seeking to block Pennsylvania’s certification. The lawyers representing the President are either delusional or intentionally misleading him and his supporters.

I think the obviously right move for Biden, both politically and substantively, is to involve himself not at all in Trump's legal concerns. Don't push the DOJ to do or not do anything, and don't issue any pardons.

  8. So now our attention turns back to Michigan and certification. Be vigilant but don’t be panicked. Breathe.

  9. I'd just like to say, in light of today's statements, that I called on Friday that mealymouthed statement from the two GOP Michigan legislative leaders that everyone was praising still left the door wide open for coup participation.

Moving our gaze from PA courtrooms— this thread on challenges of *basically all* ballots from counties with cities in them or *all absentees* also seems like is worth attention.

  12. “or decides to take the full time allowed by law to perform their duties” Sure sounds like this MI Republican legislator is trying to exert some indirect pressure.

  13. There are three Trump-appointed U.S. Attorneys in Pennsylvania. All three said they’d be on the lookout for fraud. The U.S. Attorney in Philly has been particularly partisan. So what have they said about this supposedly massive criminal conspiracy to steal the election? Nothing.

  14. There hasn’t been a single Trump lawsuit in which a Trump lawyer successfully proved a fraud allegation in court. And time has run out.

Most Republicans running in 2022 and 2024 will have been supportive of a very public scheme to steal an election by throwing out the votes of millions of Americans.

  16. Last point for now: this is a victory anyone who believes in voting rights should savor. But let's not forget the many lawyers and others who have advanced arguments to literally try to thwart voters' will and steal the election. Shame on them.

The federal judge in Pennsylvania lost his patience today with Trump’s idiotic suit, in language you rarely see. calls it “the worst piece of election litigation I have ever seen”

  18. Looking a little deeper at the Trump voters who are driving this divide — 81% say *their* elections went well in their communities, but only 21% say the election generally went well — 85% of Trump voters say the campaign should continue its legal challenges:

Chart showing voters’ answers to whether the Trump campaign should or should not continue legal challenges to the voting process in several states.

Of voters overall, 43% say the campaign should continue and 57% say it should not.

Of Biden voters, only 4% say the challenges should continue.

Of Trump voters, 85% say the legal challenges should continue. That's further broken down: 94% of strong Trump supporters say the campaign should continue its legal challenges, and 71% of moderate or lean-Trump voters say the campaign should continue its legal challenges.
