Going to a Comic Con in the late 80s in a Best Western’s basement. Essentially rows of middled-aged guys with booths full of long boxes of gently used comics. There was one comic artist guest there, Marshall Rogers. But I was too much a shy & awkward kid to ask him much advice.

@ronwagnerartist gave a talk at Iowa State and told us not to become comic book artists :) I was the only one who didn’t listen - Keskustelun loppu

Deathmate tour at my LCS in Rockford Illinois. Got to meet
@robertliefeld@JimLee and they were really nice to a young 5th grader showing them some pretty awful artwork. -
Also
@robertliefeld. We stood outside JHU for 2 hours in 1996 for the Heroes Reborn launch. He also gave me my first portfolio review and was quite gracious even though my stuff was terrible. - Näytä vastaukset

The first pro I ever met was Frank Quietly. I was in my early 20's. I had never been to a convention before and I wouldn't have started going unless my partner dragged. All I brought were copies of New X-Men 114 and All-Star Superman. It was super cool for me.

I gave him a tour of the library at DC, the first time we met. I think I blacked out.
