also keep in mind that the senate gop would have to choose between conviction and arguing that all is well with a president trying to overturn an election. impeachment is bigger than trump.

but there's only two weeks left in his term! cool cool coolcoolcool, i'm sure he won't be able to do any damage in that time

but two weeks isn't enough time for the house to act! 2/21/1868: Andrew Johnson breaks the law 2/24/1868: House passes impeachment resolution 2/29/1868: House adopts articles of impeachment 3/4/1868: Articles of impeachment delivered to Senate 3/5/1868: Senate court convenes

OBVIOUSLY mitch isn't going to convene an impeachment court the weekend before the election, but the senate GOP ought to be stewing in it for the last week of the administration

Yes officer I was speeding, but have you heard of the concept of linear time?
-
If the officer claims that linear time doesn't exist, then it's impossible to be speeding.

Impeachment isn’t a punishment (it’s a political tool), though. Especially not for a person who’ll be out of office by the time documents have been drawn up and delivered to the Senate.
-
Impeachment would prohibit him from running for federal office ever again
