Crunch-based teams can get stuck in a "We're shipping next week - let's crunch! Hack the codebase!" pattern. This occurs over and over again. During each cycle the codebase is hacked up more and more, making matters worse.
Making matters worse, less experienced devs will hack up the codebase so badly that they break key unit tests. The reasoning is, hey we're shipping in a week - who cares about unit tests!

Yeah. That place had no strategy for testing other than F5 so. On the plus side, no unit tests were broken. It amazes me that even now production of large scale apps are started and built without any clear idea of how to test them or maintain them
