Crunch-based teams can get stuck in a "We're shipping next week - let's crunch! Hack the codebase!" pattern. This occurs over and over again. During each cycle the codebase is hacked up more and more, making matters worse.

Clueless publishers will pile on temporary devs, telling them to fix any and all bugs in the database. These devs come in, hack on a bunch of bugs, then leave. There's Jira churn so producers are happy. The reality is that all this hacking has introduced even more bugs.

If you're unfortunately on a team like this you need to seriously ask yourself if you really think the title can ship in 1 week. Many times management lies in order to get the team to work harder.
