Game devs crunch on very complex technology for peanuts.

I agree with you Rich, game devs skills could could be used in much more lucrative industries and many don't realise it. But I'd still prefer that instead, the games industry changes so that it becomes as lucrative for employees as other industries.

Yes, that would be the ideal thing. But as long as there are fresh college grads willing to work for peanuts crunching away, it isn't gonna happen. Game devs need to push back, realize their "art" isn't making them any money, and move on to fields that actually value their work.

It's a problem with "prestige" industries. My wife's an architect and tells me big-name firms pay interns/juniors exactly 0 because they're lucky to have the privilege of working there.
