Thanks to rapid data sharing by , has been updated with two genomes from England. These appear to be a transmission cluster with just one mutation difference between them. 1/2

Does anyone have stats on how many people on evac flights have tested positive for ? 2 out of 124 on the German flight did. This could provide an estimate of prevalence (PCR positivity) in Wuhan (in a non-representative immigrant population, but still...).

Some of six German patients in this hospital had flu like symptoms, but are currently mostly asymptomatic.

Update of case counts using data from . Be aware the confirmed cases might not be a good proxy of true cases as test intensity varies -- the straight lines corresponding to different doubling times are meant as a guide to the eye.

This reads like the public health equivalent of security theater. A grand gesture with minimal protective impact and big disruptive downsides.

Based on the content of my mentions, I feel like I need to further debunk crazy / HIV conspiracy preprint. This is a thread doing so. 1/9

I used globalcitizen's repository of case counts to graph growth across China: Log-growth is slowing a bit -- could be an effect of infection control measures, saturation in testing capacity, ...

The new German case has mild symptoms and the other four in the same hospital are mostly symptom free. Together with the more severe US case, this points towards a wide range of outcomes -- hopefully the great majority is mild.

Swedish case so far not sevely ill. I do not have details, but reportedly sampled due to visit in Wuhan and cough on return. Seems like another mildly symptomatic case.

I'd like to give a giant, huge, enormous shout-out to all the people working behind-the-scenes (to varying degrees) to keep up, make it work even better, & keep our content updated - all at absolutely lightning speed during this outbreak. 🙌🏻👏🏻

We start to see cases with mild symptoms, transmission from asymptomatic cases, and secondary transmission outside China (Japan, China, France, Thailand). containment will be difficult...

Thanks to rapid and open data sharing by now includes the genome from one of the cases in Bavaria, Germany. It does not seem to group with any other sequences in our phylogeny.

an update on the clinical presentation of 99 patients in Wuhan. 11/99 died, 57 still in the hospital. At the same time, the great majority of infected might never seek medical care.

Thanks to rapid data sharing by , we've now included two genomes from Paris sampled on Jan 24 at . These two virus genomes appear identical and fit exposure to the same source case in Wuhan or household transmission.

The four patients in Germany no longer have symptoms. It seems they were only diagnosed because the company was alerted that a colleague visiting from China fell sick. This suggests many cases in China are asymptomatic and not reported.

Very informative model of the potential spread of nCov across the global aviation network by . Includes a nice explanation of the rationale. Remarkable how well aligned the probabilities are with the observed cases.

Thanks to open data sharing by , we now show the genome of Arizona travel case at . This is remains consistent with reported travel history via Wuhan, but we see accumulating genetic diversity at the source of the outbreak.
