*For the moment: Fox has no plans to use Tom Brady on its Super Bowl multi-hours long pregame show this Sunday.
(*People in sport television often make changes. But that's the word as of today.)
New from me:
Greg Olsen is really good at announcing. But he wasn't this good when the season started. He *got* good by fixing a hole in his game. https://theringer.com/nfl/2023/2/6/23586931/greg-olsen-fox-broadcasting-super-bowl-tom-brady…

today. Huge game in WBB. Even though ESPN doesn't have the game, it's leading their website — and with a graphic in the scoreline who is airing the game.
is getting a tight and meaningful game to call today. Been through a lot of health issues. He’s 83. A testament to never retiring.
Yes, he’s ham city, yes, he has long walked the line of being too tight with certain coaches, but his love of the game is real.
This is where Twitter can be amazing.
Anyone have info on whether someone in the U.S./Canada can listen to Wrexham soccer games live via audio/radio stream?
OTL did a lot of remarkable reporting over the years. Really too much to choose from but OTL's years-long work on the death of Pat Tillman always stood out.
Just incredible work:

John Ourand reported today:
"ESPN no longer will have a linear TV show entirely devoted to “Outside the Lines.” Staffers were told Thursday night that the Saturday morning edition of the long-running show will not return after the Super Bowl." twitter.com/richarddeitsch…

Sat. morning: 9:00 a.m. ET
You now know what key ESPN execs think of OTL.
Because here's the truth, past all the spin, past all the fancy words about viewer habits changing & evolution & revamping.
They put it on at 9AM ET on a Sat.
My Bengals may not be going to the Super Bowl, but they did beat the Bills the other week, hence scoring me this killer Canadian care package courtesy @richarddeitsch do i go ketchup chips or smarties first??
: ESPN averaged 439,000 viewers for Novak Djokovic’s win at the Australian Open, the least-watched men’s final in at least a decade. Down 36% from 2022 men final.
Sabalenka over Rybakina drew 379,000 viewers, down 21% from last year.
When I covered women's hoops for SI, every year I read the same tired ass piece that UConn was bad for the sport.
You know who disagreed?
Opposing coaches.
They said it made their programs better because they had to recruit harder/smarter and upgrade.
I am a longtime subscriber that super teams are more good than bad for a sport — and they are unquestionably great for building a sport via media (whether tv/streaming/social etc...)
I'd push the Liberty & Aces huge -- the same way ESPN/TNT pushed the Warriors. Stars sell. twitter.com/SportsCenter/s…

A sports media tidbit to file away:
There are some NFL-content airing sports networks looking to take/have taken preliminary meetings with George Kittle. They like his broadcasting potential should he decide to enter the field post-playing career.

NFL on FOX has themselves in quite the pickle. Today's show is going to be very Tom Brady-heavy, unfortunately.
3p- @richarddeitsch
Also, the Bulls are an absolute shit-show.

So. A bit of personal news. After 11 years, I made the decision to part ways with ESPN when my contract ended this week. It was my decision & I stuck to it even when asked if I might reconsider. I leave with only warm feelings about the place. It changed my life. I'm so grateful.
COLUMN: Tom Brady had retired. What does that mean for Fox Sports and Greg Olsen?

With Tom Brady making it official this morning, here's a story on how Greg Olsen has approached the Brady elephant in the room -- which now becomes real.
Bubba Watson shares one reason why he signed with LIV Golf:
"My 10-year-old son was sitting in the bed with me, and we were watching golf on the TV, and he knew the Aces – everybody knows the Aces, they keep winning. He knew the Aces, he knew the Stingers..."
