A big part of our responsibility right now (and that of decent non-liberals, too) is to stay sane. To fight hard, and with our eyes open, but to stay sane while doing so.

Fellow liberals: I know it’s been a hard week. But two things, please. (1) Don’t blame a Deutsche Bank loan for anything about the Supreme Court, b/c it makes no sense. (2) Don’t embrace court-packing. Maybe it’s a therapeutic fantasy, but it’s a destructive way to think & talk.

This is wildly wrong. What McConnell did is inherently limited to filling the available vacancies. Court packing has no such limits. With court packing, if you have the presidency and 50 senators you outright control SCOTUS. It's not even in the same ballpark.

When it looked like Hillary would win the Republicans had no problem just leaving the SCOTUS seat open-8 or 9 Justices “who cares”, Then they ended the once sacrosanct SC filibuster to get Gorsuch in, So let’s not get sanctimonious about the Dems playing with the rules, too.
