Gil, I understand that point of view but I completely disagree with it. In fact I think it disrespects the character of Luke by treating him not as a true mythic hero overcoming recurring wounds & flaws, but as a video game character who has achieved a binary, permanent power-up.
My parents went to see the touring production of Cats when I was a kid. I was so excited and really jealous. When they got home I was on my mom’s heels asking how it was, what it was like, tell me everything. She slumped on the sofa, eyes focused mid distance. “Well. Lotta cats.”

Solo is a straight up space western, it’s the Kasdans jettisoning heaviosity and hard-wiring into the spirit of the old serials. It’s seriously a blast. If you’re on the fence check ’s feed for some great fan reactions, and to see a class act in action.
The Last Jedi’s out today in the states for digital download, blu in two weeks. Of all the special features, my favorite one is kinda hidden, so wanted to call it out. If you buy the movie anywhere online (or the blu) you have access to a music only version of TLJ.
