All malthusian societies are equally ‘eugenic’ in a sense... you don’t need to add human sacrifice. However only a few selectively bred for beauty or other ‘higher virtues’

Since we live in a (currently) post-malthusian world some kind of purposeful and self-aware ‘cruelty’ is inherent to any ‘eugenics’, but you can’t project this back on the past; more cruel or violent societies weren’t necessarily ‘more eugenic’
