okay so this is basically my fault for not taking biology past sophomore year of college but. what actually "moves" the sub elements in a cell, what the fuck force is making actin barriers "decide" to let shit in and out of the membrane. that bothers me just a little bit

it’s all mechanical randomness which you’ve probably learned by now - what’s slightly more interesting is that most of life works this way, ie body plans and shape arise from statistical mechanical interactions rather than ‘blueprints’ in the way most people think
