e.g. nytimes etc will still put out climate change themed articles semi-regularly but everything else has basically disappeared
That's because this is an outmoded and supremacist form of environmentalism predicated on notions of purity and heteropatriarchy. The concern with climate change is more egalitarian, friendlier to trans and POC and of help to the Jewish system of critique.
I think part of the reason you see this decline over the years is that environmental issues have become embedded in the public consciousness. It's just something people almost instinctively know about now, not something to actively learn about like they would even a decade ago.
Obviously that's a bad thing because only a minuscule segment of the population truly knows how bad things are, it's just taken for granted
