Been watching this on iPlayer. I hadn’t realised how much opposition to getting involved, or helping people who had managed to escape, there was. Then how long it took after the war to fully accept how bad it had been. The US and the Holocaust:

Burying my children is my greatest nightmare. Brett’s son was killed at Uvalde last May. How anyone can read this thread and not want gun control is beyond me. Just try and imagine his pain.

The answer to ‘what’s on at the Abbey on my afternoon off’ ended up being Empire of Light and I loved it. A lovely friendship story set around a beautiful old building.

Currently reading, and enjoying, the latest Shelterbox Book Club pick: A People’s History of Heaven but thinking I should get out for a run before lunch.
Cover of A People’s History of Heaven by Mathangi Subramanian.
Back cover of A People’s History of Heaven.
A People’s History of Heaven page 130: “Bangalore used to be a place where things grew. Trees, bushes, flowers. Tomatoes if you planted them in January. Cilantro and mint any time of year at all. A place where the soil pushed and the sun pulled life up, up, up. After the engineers came, Bangalore grew other things. Buildings, overpasses, toll roads. And walls. Lots and lots of walls.

Dragged myself away from the TV for a couple of hours in Oxford. Doing the tourist thing and taking lots of photos of the college buildings is impossible to resist on such a sunny day. ☀️🏛😎
View towards Magdalen Tower Oxford from Christchurch meadows.
Cattle Street, Oxford. Radcliffe Camera peeking out between University Church and All Souls College.
Bright sunlight shining beween the spires.
