@mjtsai I’m sure YMMV but IIRC the public lamenting about it was very similar to the complaining about removal of headphone jack.

@rgigger I remember it as more the former. Zip disks and SuperDisks were much better, we had CDs, and USB sticks on the horizon. - View other replies

@rgigger Floppies were really bad, but OTOH they had more interoperability benefits than the headphone jack. -
@mjtsai yes exactly. It created a lot of social awkwardness as you tried to engineer around it to share files. -
@rgigger Sympathies. At that time, I was in college, no one else had a Mac, and we just put everything in shared NFS folders.
