I think, as women, reading our perspective told in a way that feels so true is so incredibly rare that it feels like non fiction. And that says something about the way stories are usually told (through the male gaze).

There's something sad about this, though — that it implies nonfiction isn't crafted with intent. Nonfiction lives within the boundaries of lived/researched experience, sure, but it is hard crafted into whatever sense it's trying to make (I hope)

Maybe at least a little because of the interview with the author where she talks about how it was inspired by a bad dating experience? I know that doesn't negate that it is fiction but maybe gives reader a "based on a true story" impression
