We’ve known this for over a year and yet we still have to read countless NYTimes profiles of the economically anxious Trump voter. Also status anxiety is just an euphasim for racism.https://twitter.com/theatlantic/status/988493432929816577 …

A new study finds that status anxiety, not poverty, motivated support for Trump. @olgakhazan reports: https://theatln.tc/2Jmh8ep

To be fair, some of those NY Times profiles were of actual Nazis.

You're a great guy Prof. But calling everyone who voted for him a racist is both wrong and counter productive. There's a whole other dynamic at work here.

No other dynamic. If someone voted for him, they’re either racist, or ok with racism. Both are racism.

Imagine being white in this country and having “status anxiety.” Real status anxiety is when you are a POC and walk out your door each day wondering what hurdles lay in front of you and only you for no reason but the color of your skin or place of your birth.

If anxiety about Clinton is enough to make someone debase themselves to the level of supporting Trump, their brain was already broken before Clinton ever ran.

Status anxiety as seen by people feeling their race and resulting “place” in the country are at risk? That’s what I see and hear from most DJT tribal members. Js✌️

Even on Roseanne, they made it sound like they voted for him because he “talked about jobs”. Bullshit! He talked about how a black guy didn’t belong in the White House, and Mexicans are rapists!

Isn't this assertion of racism a bit generalising and reductive? Can't think of any other combination of reasons that someone would support such values?

You are being intellectually lazy and resorting to the name calling fad. Shameful in your position. Pls read Us vs Them by Ian Bremmer for some greater global context and a modicum of rational thinking. That is if you care to use your platform for good.
