Well, the right wing evangelical christians have always been there and have always voted right wing. Trump didn’t win because of them, he won because of swing voters. Maybe calling out ‘white people’ has something to do with the swing votes? People are sick of identity politics!

Trump won for a lot of reasons. Obama had a lot of support from black voters. Pointing that out is demographic fact, not identity politics. Also, majority of evangelicals are white. Demographic fact.
