@RawStory Technically, a gerund CAN be considered an adjective in a diagrammed sentence, so maybe I'm wrong. It's possible. -
An actual gerund functions as a noun. Reince's use here expresses the present participle of those verbs.

No. Gerunds are nouns. That a word ends in -ing does not make it a gerund.

Right. He used them as verbs, but they could be used as adjectives in a similar sentence, like "Imploding Obamacare."
