All interps of Jesus hinge on this: either he was utterly unique unlike any other Jew in his time or he was remarkable but not unique.

@PretzelMatt John wasn't unique. Baptism was. But those who agree John was Jew teaching Judaism think Jesus was Jew teaching something else!

@PretzelMatt Certainly possible that Jesus was unique, that unlike fellow Jews he was literate, believed messiah meant something utterly new
