Mayor Pete’s gonna have to stop watching the lines on the highway and chart his own course.

He seems to be outperforming all expectations so far. Why change course when you’re crushing it?
-
Because the same broken Democratic apparatus that lost the last election paved the road he’s on today.

Yeah, ok, can we get back to electing Liz Warren now?

For starters, it's basically a state issue. Secondly, I suspect that there's much less consensus to be had on "voting while incarcerated" than there is to be had on "voting after sentence completed."
-
If memory serves, only two states currently allow incarcerated felons to vote (VT, ME). That's a LARGE hill to climb, and I think that restoring voting rights upon release is the best approach.

it's not a bad answer either. There are a lot of people in prison who voided the voting rights of others....forever...IJS
-
We are not debating if they have done good or bad. They are in prison. The discussion is focused on are these Americans or not?
-
Nobody's debating whether they are Americans or not. False equivalency. Pete's answer was acceptable. Being in prison means you lose certain rights. As others have said, this is not a hill to die on. This is about 99th or 100th on my top 100 concerns.
-
I think the great thing about this debate is the focus it brings to our current prison system. We need to get rid of for profit prisons. First and foremost!

It is a great answer. When a Prisoner completes their time & have paid their debt to society then voting rights can be restored. Imagine a convicted rapist in jail able to vote for someone like Roy Moore or a some lawmaker that can reduce consequences for sexual assault.

These are 2 different issues BOTH of which were addressed last night. apparently you didn’t watch the candidates speak to them. Your account is only tweets from others which you RT to sow division. Troll elsewhere.pic.twitter.com/FbCTwQgWon

"Certain rights" does not equal voting rights. At least it shouldn't.

It’s increasingly doubtful that any candidate who passes every progressive activist litmus test could have any chance of winning a national general election.

Doesn't mean that when they complete their sentence that they can't vote.

There are just too many candidates to waste any energy on individuals who love to keep the status quo. It’s either progress or nothing. Pete, next!

Pete seems like a nice guy, but not the one for president. Way too religious, too, which has no place in politics.
