Let me say how insignificant this is... There are those who read the religious texts and kill, and then there are those who read the same texts and love.. That is the story Everything that is written was written by humans, everything that was said was said by humans.

Not the same parts of the texts, hence it's good when individuals are strong enough to use their own humanistic judgement to cherrypick the good parts and be clear about rejecting the bad parts. Such theists get my full respect. /An atheist

Alot going on here. 1/The Mayor is Christian & gay. That doesn't work. Bible calls that an abomination. 2/Texts cannot be cherry-picked to justify one's theism. Theism must stand on its own. 3/Radicals live on the shoulders of moderates. Religion must be abandoned in its totality

While I respect followers using own humanistic judgement to cherrypick good parts of religious scriptures n clearly discard the bad, if they then claim "THIS is Religion X, period" then it's intellectually dishonest. Blind faith still conflicts with any desire to be truthful..

What do you mean there isn't a hell? Our planet is dying, hopes for the distant future are dwindling, the most powerful nation in the world, with the largest military & full complement of nuclear weapons, is headed by an authoritarian buffoon, and ignorance is a source of pride.

A lot of the environmental metrics are improving and poverty is being reduced world wide. Not that everything is perfect but when you do a deep dive into the stats it’s not quite a highway to hell
