When he says "nothing more maddening," he's saying he finds this straw man argument worse than migrant children dying in US detention centers, people going bankrupt to pay for health care, the epidemic of gun deaths or creeping environmental calamity.

Yes. That's the part that bothers me most -- he's saying it's worse for people to be called racist than for people to die from racist policies. He has no concern for the real-life calamitous consequences of the Trump admin for already vulnerable people, including children.
-
Much better said! And that's exactly why I couldn't dismiss it as merely irritating rhetorical hyperbole. His word choice reveals such a stark moral bankruptcy, a blind spot for human suffering.

Well, some of us do. They were all at least passively racist, in that an openly racist candidate did not drive them away. It's the same kind of racism where you never say anything when someone else tells a racist joke. ALL Trump voters are *at least* that racist.

Yeah I say it almost everyday. And if they’re not overtly racist they are fine with Representatives who are.

I agree no one says this, but I know a lot of his supporters, and it's not that far off from the truth.

I say it. If you support a transparently racist campaign, you’re racist. Sorry about that.

But we do say that for the 59M voters who voted for him, Trump’s race baiting, open bigotry, and dog whistles were not deal breakers. They knew who and what he was and castvtheir vote knowingly

I hate Chris Cillizza but he's right, a bunch of people say this and it's also a pet peeve of mine as well. Just look at the thread here to see people saying this.

Sure. We're not saying EVERY last one. Of course Trumpsters hate being called racist, but were just PERFECTLY FINE with all the racism? There's a difference? Show me the difference. Sorry it sucks to be "mistaken" for a pathetic person. Birds of a feather I suppose.
