"Why Study Religion?" So we can expose islam

Why that one in particular? They're all a little crazy and dangerous in their own way. To me, the only valid reason to study religion is to understand the particular ways humans are susceptible to bad ideas.

Well, maybe because it's one of the rare religions that explicitly and openly command violence towards people who do not follow it

I feel like that's open to interpretation in all religions. Most muslims are not violent so apparently their version of the religion isn't violent; whereas some inherently peaceful religions like Buddhism can have intolerant (to the point of genocide) followers.
