450 overdose deaths in SF through August. We must take a harder stance in court when we prosecute anyone selling it. We all know who they are. Too many are dying not too. And for God's sake, promote and expand drug treatment in #SanFrancisco ASAP.https://twitter.com/MattHaneySF/status/1314700412721590272 …

With all due respect, show me any data that prosecuting dealers reduces drug use or consequences of it. We do need more free access to buprenorphine treatment. We need to pilot safe consumption sites. And we need a safe supply.

The unsafe supply is the main reason. These kids are selling drugs laced with Fentanyl while fen is also becoming a permanent Heroin replacement. If we end up legalizing, that will take time. So until then, we need to interrupt this current supply on the street. Would you agree?

I agree that we need a safe supply. The people selling drugs are not in charge of that, so harassing them with police and jail will do no more than cost the city money. And we need to set up places where people are observed by competent naloxone-carrying people while they use.

Yes I live in SF and have been studying drug use in SF for 27 years. I am fully aware of the scope of the problem. And I agree no one solution will solve the problems. This is an emergency. And we need new solutions that have worked elsewhere. And we need it on big scope.

What neighborhood are you in? Pac Heights? We haven’t TRIED anything!
@SFPDTenderloin arrests and@chesaboudin sets them free with a hug because “they’re the victims.” You have zero credibility, whether you “study” or not.1 reply 1 retweet 12 likes
The cause of CA problems started when Democrats took over control of the Legislature in mid-90’s and thwarted any new construction of prisons, as their passive-aggressive means of thwarting will of public (3 Strikes). Resulting in “Prison Realignment”, Prop 47 & overdose epidemic
