As a bishop in the Episcopal Church, and an American citizen, I am shaken watching protestors in Lafayette Park gassed and cleared so that the President of the United States can do a photo op in front of St. John's Episcopal Church holding a Bible. This is blasphemy in real time.

How do we get the Church to withhold the sacraments from all involved until they do meaningful penance, starting with demilitarizing their department?

Rioters, looters, seditionists, & other violent felons aren’t “protestors.” And when a President of the United States visits and shows solidarity with “the Church of Presidents” (est. 1816) after a domestic-terrorist attack, that’s not a “photo op.”
