In fact, I dislike the word and concept of talent in general. It closes doors to people who could have enjoyed an activity, but think it's off limits to them. It breeds segregation of creative people and elitism among them. It gives power to something that shouldn't have it.

I wish people would realize anyone is allowed to practice and enjoy any skill they desire. You're not too old, you're not the wrong gender, and you definitely weren't born in some way that you should let anyone limit your potential. It's your choice and your choice only.

I agree and support this 100%, to the point that I've felt annoyed being told it, and that's not good, because I believe that while this is super true, it's also very important to recognize that most of the time the other person is saying it without any malice of any kind.

I still think it's a harmful concept and people should be gently told that many people find it demeaning, but not to the point of appearing ungrateful of what was meant as compliment! Intent is the most important thing!
