    I usually post the national suicide hotline but it’s just not enough. I don’t know who needs to hear this, but 17 years ago this month I survived a suicide attempt. If anyone is struggling, please reach out. To me, to anyone. The DMs are open. It does get better. I promise.

    Jackson Hole authorities are still attempting to locate three people reported to be missing in and around the Grand Teton area, including Cian McLaughlin, the nephew of CVUSD Superintendent . Cian has been missing since June.

    This is new: public health now saying whether COVID dead were vaccinated or unvaccinated. Four new deaths reported today, 3 unvaccinated and 1, a 79-year-old man, was vaccinated.

    CVUSD has entered into an agreement with Red Cross to use schools as emergency shelters. Because of that, they're able to submit for a grant for alternative battery power. Battery shaving means that the district can pull power from batteries during higher tier times.

    Miller said personal devices like laptops can be searched just like phones. Xu said a lot of students said they would like to be notified as to the reason why they are being searched. McLaughlin said that will be covered during staff training.

    Hayek said the acceptable use policy states the district can search district-issued devices. Goldberg asked about personal devices. Hayek said they don't monitor personal devices but they do monitor network traffic.

    Goldberg asked if they should add computers to the policy. McLaughlin said if students do web searches about something like bodily harm, the district does get notified. They don't get notifications about document entries.

    Loo said phone policies vary by schools. Some middle schools ask students to keep phones in their backpacks, others allow them to be on the students' person, but they can't be used during class. High schools have looser rules.

    Sylvester asked how classes get selected to be searched by the contraband dogs. She said she has a feeling it's not the AP classes being selected for search. Loo said they only use detection dogs to do locker areas, not classes.

    Miller said lockers and desks are the property of the district so they can search them if necessary. They will notify students prior to the search but they will not provide students an opportunity to clear the desk or locker first.

    Any staff who conduct a search and seizure of a phone will be trained and the search is limited in scope. This policy update also removes the practice of unannounced searches. Staff will have to tell students before they search a locker or desk.
