this feels really dishonest, first with your typing out 13 billion and second that it wasn't actually an increase. Accounting for inflation (using your numbers) defense spending decreased 1 billion dollars

Defense budget is a jobs program. MIC companies are in almost every state--a lot of jobs & votes. Those votes cd help save democracy from fascism. If there are others ways to do it, I'm okay w those instead. But Dem hold on power is precarious. GOP won far more down ballot races.

It's *military* not defense, ffs. We need to halve it (at least), and use the remaining money to close all forward bases, bring troops home, step back from empire before it falls.
