Made a patch-based texture synthesis version :) the red square indicates the chosen patch from the example image, and green squares are possible, but rejected candidates. [more info in the replies]

Been wanting to get into texture synthesis from example for a while now :3 this one quite old-school and is generated pixel by pixel with Markov Random Fields. Did both Houdini and Python implementations. Was quite fun! And it's just the beginning :D

The OSS community has yet to come to grips with “Companies with $50 million in the bank send an incredible volume of support requests to people who are worried about making their $600 rent, and the community and culture in OSS makes this feel normal.”

I wanted to merge a lot of the currently public Halcyon content into a form of “Director’s Cut” version, where a single slide deck could be referenced, instead of a multitude of presentations each focusing on different aspects. Enjoy!

Monitors for dev productivity have really stagnated it feels, 32" 4k has been nice for years but want more vertical space and a bit higher DPI still. 43" 4k is way too low DPI and not great panel, but good size. 43" 8k in the future? OLED also plz

Missed "Modern Graphics Abstractions & Real-Time Ray Tracing" at Syysgraph 2018, where and presented Halcyon's rendering architecture, heterogeneous & virtual mGPU, render graph, remote render proxy & ray tracing? Slides here:

Career advice: people won't know how awesome you are if you don't show them somehow. Tweet, blog, present, write, talk, meet, etc. Share good things and people will notice. It's good for both personal growth and your career.

What an awful policy, one that's deliberately meant to guilt people into sticking around, regardless of their life circumstances. Someone who worked on a game in 2011 did work worth crediting in 2018.
