Change the name of either Medicare or Medicaid. I had to explain to a guy the difference because he thought the government was taking money out of his paycheck to pay for my Medicare.

Yes - we need a solution. Single payer is NOT the solution. Medical Insurance should fall under the same rules Utilities are. Insurance Companies must be required to supply it, a pool established for pre-existing conditions, Limited Profits, reviewable by Oversight...IMHO
