Sir, as your constituent and (I believe) sensible gun owner, may I suggest simply opening up NICS to everyone as part of a background check strategy? A 1-800 number I could call for private sales and loans would be a very, very low burden on us but a drastic improvement in safety

Because #HR8's requirement that everything goes through a gun store is frankly annoying. Nobody will do that for loans, few will for gifts, and rural garage sales will cease to exist. Either we pay a bunch of fees or we become criminals. NICS for free fixes that. Everyone wins.

Please try to fix #HR8. You want background checks. Gun owners want to be free of unnecessary fees and harassing rules. Free public NICS access serves BOTH goals! Literally everyone wins, and compliance will be WAY higher.

I suggest you give more $ to existing enforcement . Just because an lot of Multnomah Co wants more gun control does not meant those of us in rural Oregon want more

Another waste of time. If a criminal or abuser wants a gun they will get a gun no matter how many back ground checks u have. To bad u can't spend part of ur 3 day work week doing something constructive which would benefit ALL Americans.
