Social security should include housing and basic housing.
For 8 years, the GOP talked about cutting benefits Americans earned through decades of hard work. Dems are serious about solving the social security crisis & today's @WaysMeansCmte hearing was the first step.
We must fulfill the promise of a retirement with dignity & security.

How about raising the upper limits at which a person can be taxed? Let's try having the first $15,000 exempt, tax anything after that. Why should payment cap out on first $140K earned. Even increasing to first $1M would shore up SS.

What were some of their specific proposals & when did they make them? Perhaps they called for means-testing it, i.e. cutting benefits going to people above a certain level of wealth? Though doubtful GOP would do anything that'd make wealthy people less wealthy (or touch 3rd rail)
