Nowhere in our country can a person working 40 hrs/week at the current federal min. wage afford a 1- or 2-bedroom apartment w/o public assistance. It's been 10 years since the federal min. wage was last raised. It's time for Congress to act now. #ForThePeople #RaiseTheWage (1/2)

We couldn't agree with you more. We are tired of working hard to earn poverty wages. Thank you for you leadership and for standing with worker's to lift up millions of workers across the country. We look forward to working with you to make it happen.

Unfortunately by 2024 the minimum wage probably should be $20/hour. The only thing that's going to stop the spiral upward is if capitalist corporations reduce their dividend ratio and plow some profits back toward supporting employees. For instance, granting stock in company.

If a job creation program were to be established on a federally funded but locally administered basis, it would act as wage competition for the private sector according to local costs of living.
-
Also, if workers were co-owners they might work for lower wages that would be offset by later dividends in certain industries.

And by 2024 the cost of living is going to be up and it's going to need to be higher yet again then we're back in the same position that we're in right now, that's not good enough
