    More than 90 percent of Americans support life-saving background checks. I'm proud to see New Mexico taking action to prevent firearms from getting into the hands of criminals. Thank you for your leadership!

    Background checks save lives. They reduce the rate of women killed by an intimate partner, they reduce suicide rates, they reduce the rate of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty – they save lives. That’s why I signed Senate Bill 8 today.

    Today, as we honor and remember those who sacrificed their own safety to guarantee the right to vote for all Americans, my colleague is absolutely right - there is much more work to be done to secure the rights of all people.

    54 years ago today, we were beaten, tear gassed, trampled by horses, and left bloody on that bridge in Selma. But we cannot rest. We cannot become weary. We must honor those who gave their lives for the right to vote. We must continue to find a way to get in the way.

    New Mexican families face serious economic consequences due to PFAS contamination. While the Air Force avoided taking responsibility, my colleagues & I got to work. Our legislation provides relief to communities and makes sure this never happens again.

    U.S. Senators Tom Udall and Martin Heinrich and U.S. Representative Ben Ray Luján introduced a bill today to provide relief to communities and businesses impacted by PFAS contamination in groundwater around Air Force Bases across the country.
